Made with melted chocolate and cocoa powder, this recipe makes a fudgy and truly decadent brownie perfect for the holidays!

Gather flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt,

vanilla & peppermint extracts, eggs,

candy canes, butter, and dark chocolate.

Crush two candy canes into small, bite-sized pieces, then set aside.

Melt the butter and dark chocolate together in a large bowl.

Whisk in granulated sugar for one minute. This will help give us a crackly top!

Add eggs and both extracts to the batter.

Whisk the batter for 2-3 minutes, until it has thickened enough to form ribbons on top of the batter.

Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt.

Fold the mixture together with a spatula, then add half of the crushed candy canes.

Spread the batter into a square metal pan lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 22-25 minutes at 350°F/175°C.

Sprinkle on the remaining candy canes while still warm.

Cool for one hour to allow the brownies to set, then slice into squares and serve.
