Make-ahead friendly with easy cleanup

floralapron.com

Traditional cranberry sauce gets taken up a notch with orange juice, orange zest, and spices. The result is a bright and citrusy spiced cranberry sauce that will have everyone reaching for seconds.

Gather your ingredients

Cranberries (fresh or frozen), sugar, a medium orange, spices, and water

Add sugar and water to your saucepan, then zest your orange directly into it

Juice your orange and add the juice to your saucepan

(You can also do this directly over your saucepan if you don't want to wash a juicer)

Once the mixture boils, add in cranberries and spices

Boil for 7-10 minutes

Place a few drops of the sauce onto a plate at room temperature

If it runs, cook for another minute before testing again

Cool for 15 seconds, then hold vertically for 2 seconds

When done cooking, remove the cinnamon sticks and star anise pods.

No one likes biting into a star anise pod or cinnamon stick!

Pour into your serving bowl and enjoy!
